Salvatore DiMauro | Director of Seafood Purchasing | Porky Purchases

Backed by more than four decades of experience in seafood production, Salvatore DiMauro has distinguished himself as a leader in his industry. Since 1990, he has excelled as the director of seafood purchasing for Porky Products, in which he buys the seafood they sell to stores, such as fresh, frozen, salted and smoked products. When purchasing the seafood, his mindset is, “If I wouldn’t eat it myself, I don’t want to sell it.” Mr. DiMauro also participates in writing advertisements for the buyers. Earlier in his career, he worked with a fish concession, Corrado’s Family Affair, for 10 years.

To prepare for his profession, Mr. DiMauro earned a Bachelor of Science in business from Wagner College in 1976. He attributes his career success to his ability to understand his customer’s needs, as well as serving the freshest quality of seafood at the best prices. Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. DiMauro is a horse lover. He has attended the Kentucky Derby more than 20 times. He is also a donor to several horse charities; he even donated a horses to a boy’s ranch in Florida. Looking ahead, he aims to stabilize the market following the COVID-19 pandemic and continue offering his customers the best seafood in New York and New Jersey.

When he isn’t working, Mr. DiMauro most enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary Ellen, whom he has been married to since 1978 and considers his “rock.” Together they look forward to many more years with their two sons.
